We got this rifle from the same collection as the other one we have listed currently. The status of this one is less firm since there are no markings linking this one to Iraq, other than it has similar under-stock sling mounts added to the other wise original rifle. I suppose it's possible this could be Iranian or Syrian as well. Regardless, this rifle does not appear to have any import marks. I looked, and I can't find any. The interesting thing is that it looks like the reciver has glossy blue on it, and by this time frame (1944) I am not aware of any rifles being finished with that quality of bluing. The rifle is pretty straight german otherwise dispite the added swivels. The bore is good and this rifle would make a fine shooter. The bolt in this rifle appears to be Czech, which I have seen before with Middle Easter surplus Mausers. The trigger grouping is Imperial, which I have also seen on rifles from this area. All in all, this is a good decent collectible Mauser clearly showing the post war uses of the Kar98k.
