Sometimes I think that just about everyone must have had one of these! This is one of the most common Japanese medals, and I belive that they were awarded to anyone who made a donation to the Red Cross. Before the Japanese exploits in China, they were renowned for their good treatment of prisoners, and their medical programs. This is a relic of those times. This one has some fray, and the hooks are loose.
