What an interesting journey this helmet has had! It is a German manufactures M16/17 helmet that has made it's way all the way to Afghanistan. It is common to see these helmets being worn by a number of countries after ww1, including Finland, Bulgaria, and as far east as Afghanistan. If you look on the internet, you can find pictures of both the pre-Soviet invasion Afghan army, and the puppet army wearing both the M16, and the WW2 models of German helmets. This particular helmet displays the double holes where the insignia would be attached. The liner is of Afghan manufacture, and is in very poor condition. The chinstrap is also of a native design departing from the original German style. This particular helmet was brought back from the recent war by a customer of ours, and it is truly a really neat item to have instock.
