WW1 "Hate Belt"
Price: $250.00
This is a good example of the ww1 phenominon known as "Hate Belts." I've never known why they called them that, because they are more of an "admiration belt," and were usually diligently constructed by Allied soldiers from whatever peice of insignia that they traided for, or sought after. It is for this reason that they are often times the very first peices of militaria collecting. Generally, these were put together by british soldiers, but the Americans picked it up when they arrived in Nov 1917. This particular example displays American, French and German insignia, and I am assuming was put together by an american on a German M1910 belt. There is value in the insignia alone, as there is close to $100 in German Feldmutze cockades alone. Not to mention the French Artillery Greatcoat buttons. Over all, this is a really neat peice of militaria.
